I'm stuck on an older version of Caption.Ed, what should I do? (Windows)

Some older versions of the Caption.Ed Desktop App will not update automatically to allow you access to our latest features and performance fixes on Windows devices. 

To make sure you're up to date on Caption.Ed, follow the steps below to get the latest version of Caption.Ed: 

 

  1. Quit the Caption.Ed app completely (not only hiding it).

  2. Download the new Windows app from this page.

  3. Open Caption.Ed and start recording.

  4. The app will auto-update going forward.

 

 

How do I ensure my Caption.Ed desktop app has closed down completely? 

 

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, or click the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

  2. Type Task Manager into the search bar, then select Task Manager from the results.

  3. In Task Manager, use the search bar at the top of the window to search for Caption.Ed.

  4. Select Caption.Ed from the list of processes.

  5. Click End task in the top-right corner of the Task Manager window.

 

Caption.Ed will now be fully closed and is no longer running.
